You Will Benefit From This Realization I Just Had

Hey,

I just recently brought on an apprentice to help me grow my business, and working with him one-on-one has made me realize just how much I take for granted when it comes to the technical side of internet marketing.

Stuff that, to me, is super easy…Stuff I can do half asleep.

But the stuff I find easy is the same stuff that scares the crap out of so many other people. I’d say more than 90% of the people that “try” to make money online fall into this category.

And it’s also what keeps them from moving forward.

For example… Installing A WordPress Blog

A lot of people know how to do this, but I bet for every 1 person who does, there are at least 100 who don’t.

My apprentice is one of them. And you may not know how to either.

So what I decided to do as I teach him is to record screen capture videos of me doing whatever it is I am showing him how to do so he can reference it whenever he needs to instead of me having to show him every time.

And that’s when it hit me…

If I have to teach him, and he’s only 1 of tens, hundreds, thousands, even TENS of thousands of people who need to learn these internet marketing tasks, then why not make these videos for everyone — including YOU.

So without further adieu, here is a video I just uploaded to YouTube showing the fastest and easiest way to install a wordpress blog on your website…From your Cpanel.

NOTE: If the video is too small on this page, click here to see it bigger

If you still need hosting, I highly recommend you go with Hostgator. As I mentioned in the video, Fantastico comes standard in their Cpanel and they are one of the most cost effective AND reliable web hosts out there.

If you found this video helpful, please share it with your friends and subscribe to my newsletter for more great content from me.

Why You Should Go To Offline Events

Just got back from Yanik Silver’s Underground Online Seminar in swampy Washington, D.C.

It certainly was a blast and it’s amazing how many AWESOME people have online businesses…

…Extremely successful online businesses.

I couldn’t believe how many people I saw raise their hands when one of the speakers asked who was making $100,000 per month or more.

I saw at least 40 or 50 hands. Definitely inspiring.

Plus, internet marketers are a different breed of people and if you haven’t gotten out to one of these offline events, you really NEED TO make it a point to go to one.

I’ve met so many super cool and down to earth marketers that make A LOT of money.

And it’s always fun to match the name, email address, or instant messenger username with the actual face of someone you’ve known virtually. (that’s always my favorite)

Not only do you get to meet other like minded people, but you never know who you’re standing next to having a conversation with that can give you a real gem of wisdom and inspiration to take your business to the next level.

I encourage you to do whatever you have to do to get out to one of these events.

Go to one and you will realize with your very own eyes that

YOU ARE NOT ALONE AND NOT CRAZY!! LOL

I’ll let you know next time I go to one for sure so we can hopefully meet in person.

All the best,

Jason Dinner

Effective Monetization Strategies For Forum Owners

Hey :) So I am a member of this pretty big marketing forum called The Warrior Forum. It’s mixed with veteran marketers and newbies. Most times everyone is very helpful. Sometimes people are real jerks, but what do you expect from an open forum where people can hide behind their computer.

But if you can over look that and just focus on the positive aspects of it it can be a gold mine if you know how to make the most of it. Here’s the link to it: => http://WarriorForum.com

I participate their to some degree, but mostly only when I can provide some value and help the other members.

And there was this post from another great marketer, Allen Graves, where he was asking how he can monetize one of the forums he has. (By the way, this guy is living proof that Bum Marketing works for anyone who works it).

Anyway, he has this popular forum in the dog niche and doesn’t do anything to make money from it.

So he asked how he can start making money with it WITHOUT insulting or upsetting his valued members. He used the phrase “without pissing them off.”

Other members had great replies that were helpful, but here is what I suggested…

************************ BEGIN MY FORUM POST REPLY ****************************

I’m surprised no one else mentioned this. Or maybe they did and I missed it.

Why not rotate super targeted banner ads at the top of the forum.

You know the 720 x 90 size long rectangular banners.

You can go anywhere from dog training courses from Clickbank like “Sit, Stay, Fetch” and find some really cool sites with affiliate programs that sell organic dog food, bones, and anything else someone with a dog may need at any time.

I just checked and Petco has an affiliate program too.
Petco Affiliate Program – Earn Anywhere From 9 – 15% Commissions

But I wouldn’t just limit it to them. Like I said, rotate different banners for different sites and track your results so you can narrow down which ones produce the most revenue and stick to them.

Another thing you can do aside from banners is put a sticky thread (like Allen does here) asking people what they usually like to buy online for their dog.

They WILL tell you. This will make it a lot easier for you to give it to them as if you are doing them a favor (and you are) without pissing people off.

But as you know with forums, some people will get pissed, but most won’t.

And if they do, they can leave and find another forum.

You know enough about traffic generation that you can replace those few whiners with a lot more winners that won’t mind you generating some revenue to cover your “operating expenses” for that site.

It does cost you money to run it. Both in time and actual expenses.

Hope this helps

How To Use Digg For High SEO Rankings and Free Traffic

Just came across an interview I did with my friend Nadav Saltsman where he asked me a bunch of questions about Internet Marketing.

It was posted on his blog so I submitted his blog post url to Digg ( I “Dugg” It) and am interested to see what kind of traction it gets in Google, MSN and Yahoo as far as rankings is concerned.

It’s definitely a great listen – http://digg.com/d31CofI

Here is the Title and Description I Gave It

*******************************************
“Jason Dinner Reveals Proven Marketing Strategies – Free Audio”

16 Year Old “Kid Marketer,” Nadav Saltsman, Living In Israel Gets Full Time Internet Marketer, Jason Dinner, To Reveal Some Of His Most Powerful Strategies For Creating A Profitable Business Online Including Simple Free Traffic Getting Strategies, The Importance Of Social Media, upcoming marketing trends, plus so much more… MP3 Download Available
*********************************

Over the weekend I “dugg” a YouTube video I did critiquing a wordpress blog and am on the first page in Google, Bing, and Yahoo (less than 2 days later) for the keyword phrase:

wordpress blog critique

So we shall see what happens with this Digg submission.

I will post my results here, but I need your help.

When you click on this Digg link – http://digg.com/d31CofI you will see the Digg Toolbar and to the left of it is a button you can click on that will add a “Digg” to the url.

This will give the submission more juice and should send some free traffic to that blog post and give me some SEO love :P

Hope you enjoyed this post.

Please comment and retweet if you found this helpful :D

Thanks!

Cool Internet Marketing Tips I Gave My Dad

Hey All,

I am teaching my dad how to market online in the antique (antiquing) niche. The guy just happens to be a total Guru when it comes to that stuff, he just didn’t know he can capitolize on it on the interwebs :P

Well, not until I told him.

He knows just about everything you would want to know about buying and selling all different types of antique collectibles from cast iron doorstops and door knockers, to grandfather clocks, to hand carved oak, and antique furniture pieces.

I’m sure there’s more stuff he knows about, but I think you get the gyst.

In the 40+ years he’s been collecting, he’s probably forgot more stuff about antique collecting than most people will ever learn.

So part of our plan is to use attract other antiquers by way of Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook (for starters) and funnel all of the traffic those places generate over to his personal blog (under construction).

We were building some good momentum, but lost touch due to both of us being super busy. He emailed me the other day asking what we can do to get it back.

Here is what I said to him. Maybe this can help you somehow as well which is why I am posting it here…

*********************BEGIN EMAIL TO MY DAD****************

“Sup dad,

Yeah everyone is finally better.

Yes we did lose some momentum. Your videos, however, are still getting views ;)

You own half of the first page of YouTube for the search terms – cast iron antiques, antique cast iron, antique oak

I will soon teach you how to make your video a response to someone else’s high view count video.

It’s easy to do, but there is a strategy you always want to follow when doing it.

Start tweeting your pieces again. All those videos you should be tweeting to your followers to keep
them engaged and “@ reply” people that talk about shit you know about.

Follow 50-100 people a day and @reply 10 people who you are following to engage them in conversation.

Tweet about a different piece every day. Rotate them. Tweet them once or twice a day.

You always want to make sure your last tweet (update) is always content so people that you are following will get to see some of your stuff which will get them to follow you back and get you traffic to your stuff. Do all the @replies to engage people, but when you know you’re done with
twitter for a while or for the day, always post a link to one of your videos or a blog post once your blog is up.

We need written content as well. Articles would be perfect.

Simple articles such as:

*********************
5 Easy Ways You Can Tell An Antique Piece Is A Fraud

In your intro you tell them what you’re going to tell them.
Example: in this article I will be telling you the 5 easy ways you can tell an antique piece is a fraud.

Then in your body, you tell them what you told them you would tell them. lol

Closing paragraph, you tell them what you just told them.
************************

Then you can do variant articles like
5 Ways To Tell A Grandfather Clock Is Real
5 ways to spot an authentic oak morris chair
5 ways to spot an authentic cast iron antique doorstop

You see where I’m going with that?

If you don’t feel like writing it on paper, put your flip on a tripod, get a whiteboard and some dry erase markers and record the video as if you’re in a classroom teaching.

This way that content will serve us three fold..

* We will have a video for youtube
* we can transcribe your audio into written content
* we can also distribute the audio file.

Are you reading that copywriting book? If not, then get back to reading it, even if it’s a page a day.

That book will play a crucial roll in future ads and ebay listing you do. It will be embedded in your subconscious and you will be writing killer ads without even realizing it – just because you read that book.

Anyways, reply with questions about any of this stuff. I want to come up there, but won’t be able to until after christmas. You can come out here over the weekend if you want though before Xmas comes.

I am working on your blog as we speak.  Antique themes aren’t that common so still looking.

Talk Soon :)

Love,
Jason
**************END EMAIL TO MY DAD******************

Now keep in mind, for now we are building his business using ONLY free methods of traffic generation.

So far the only expenses we incurred was him buying a Flip Ultra HD Video Camera to show off his pieces and make content videos and me paying the $9 domain transfer fee to get his domain www.AntiquesAtLongLast.com over from his original registrar, Earthlink (DON’T EVER USE THEM FOR ANYTHING RELATED TO INTERNET MARKETING), to my domain name registrar of choice in Namecheap.

That’s it for now. I will keep you up to date on his progress from this blog, so stay tuned :)

All The Best,

Jason

Paid Surveys Are A Total Crock of SH*T

Hey Guys,

It’s been a while since I wrote to you on my blog and I have something I need to get off of my chest.

I’m on a lot of marketer’s lists so I see just about everything that comes out that has anything to do with internet marketing, online marketing, working from home or whatever you want to call it.

Just in the last few weeks I’ve seen a bunch of people, some are my friends, promote some new “Get Paid To Take Surveys” product that was listed in Clickbank.

Now, I’m not even going to give you the link because I just can’t bring myself to do that to you.

If you are serious about making any type of steady income online, then paid surveys is THE ABSOLUTE LAST thing you should EVER want to do.

I’ve been down that route.

When I was a complete newbie, I stumbled onto paid surveys. I paid like $34.95 or something to Clickbank ( i didn’t even know what Clickbank was at the time ) just to get access to a directory of all of these different sites that let you take surveys and supposedly pay you.

Long story short, I made a few bucks here and there, but was definitely a total waste of time.

First of all, a lot of times you have to take a survey to see if you even qualify to take the survey that will pay you in the first place!!

Then, more than half the time you won’t even qualify to take the damn survey. Talk about a waste of 15 – 30 minutes of your life.

Multiply that by however many surveys you try to take or you take to make 1 measly dollar a pop and you tell me if it was worth it.

Seriously, I never rant about products on my blog, but I’m trying to protect you.

The testimonials are probably glowing, but I’ll bet money that they are fabricated bullshit.

I haven’t met 1 person in my 3+ years of marketing online that actually made a full time living or anything respectable worth even talking about by taking surveys. What a joke!!

And I know a lot of people in this business.

So buyer beware.

If you’re willing to waste your time and energy taking surveys for peanuts, if anything, why don’t you channel that energy into building something more worthwhile and more importantly, PROFITABLE!

Like a list!!

All The Best,

Jason
